Ömer Abdülmecid Osmanoğlu〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Current Living Şehzades )〕〔Line of succession to the Ottoman throne〕 Prince Ömer was born in Alexandria, on the 4th of June, 1941. He is also known by the Ottoman imperial name as Prince Şehzade Ömer Abdülmecid Efendi. Prince Ömer is the only child of Prince Mahmud Namik Efendi, and his wife Şaharazade Hanımefendi. Şaharazade was born in Alexandria in 1922 and died 1993. She was the only daughter of Ismail Ratib Bey, by his wife Princess Emine Bihruz the younger daughter of Prince Ibrahim Raşid Fazıl Paşa, of Egypt and great-grandson of Sultan Mehmed V Reşad Han Gazi, 35th Sovereign of the House of Osman. Prince Ömer attended The Dragon School in Oxfordshire and Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, and studied Business Administration at the University of London.

Prince Ömer has one son with Beulah Hanımefendi (b. 8 April 1943), née Banbury. Prince (Şehzade) Mahmud Namık Osmanoğlu was born in London,on 27 April 1975. He has two grandsons, Prince (Şehzade) Ziyaeddin Reşad Efendi, born in London on June 6, 2012, and Prince (Şehzade) Cem Ömer Efendi, born in London on August 5, 2015.
